Willits - During the month of April, Frank R. Howard
Memorial Hospital will yet again offer digital mammography to the
general public at reduced rates. “We are reaching out to our
community to offer our digital mammography to all,” stated Chris
Borycki, Radiology Manager. “We believe it makes good sense to get
the check-up. This exam is a prime way to fight against breast
cancer deaths.”
Borycki points out that every two minutes there is a new breast
cancer diagnosis, and every 14 minutes a life is lost to this
disease. “Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women ages
40-55,” commented Borycki. “One in eight women will be diagnosed
with breast cancer in our country.”
Truly getting the test regularly is the best way for woman to
lower their risk of dying from breast cancer. Factors that may
increase breast cancer risk include: Never having children, having
your first child after age 35, having high bone density, being
overweight after menopause, gaining weight as an adult or having one
drink of alcohol a day.
Certainly an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and
Howard Hospital invites the community to participate in this
valuable exam. For more information call: 456-3149
