Willits - Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Mammography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology. The ACR, headquartered in Reston, VA., awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a comprehensive peer review. The surveyors assess the qualification of the personnel and the adequacy of the facility equipment.

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic radiologists, radiation oncologists, and nuclear medicine technologists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

Im proud of our staff for this outstanding achievement commented Chris Borycki, manager of radiology. The ACR accreditation demonstrates commitment to quality patient care, and also provides a high level of confidence to our patients.

Howard Memorial Hospital opened its new state-of-the-art Digital Mammography equipment to the public earlier this year in the Outpatient Imaging Center located on Poplar street. The digital technology cuts the exam time in half and facilitates earliest possible detection. In addition, the hospital offers the mammo pad for a more comfortable experience. Im so excited about the quality images that the new equipment provides us, stated Katie Hageman, Imaging Tech.

Borycki said that, breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer death for women in the United States, so we are pleased to offer this accredited technology to our community to combat these statistics.
